Azure ExpressRoute is like taking your connection from a two-lane back-country road to a 400-series Highway, ExpressRoute gives your organization the ability to create private connections, via a connectivity provider, between Azure data centres and any on-premises or co-location infrastructures that your organization might be using.
With ExpressRoute, your organization can establish connections to Azure at an ExpressRoute co-location facility. Take advantage of the faster and more reliable connection while doing periodic data migration, business continuity replication, disaster recovery and other scenarios that require the transfer of large amounts of data. ExpressRoute also gives your organization a direct connection to Microsoft’s Cloud services for optimal performance, giving you the chance to scale when necessary.
ExpressRoute connections don’t go over the public Internet, so they offer a faster and more reliable connection to your organization’s Azure infrastructure. This makes ExpressRoute an excellent tool for your organization’s periodic data migration, replication for business continuity, disaster recovery, and other strategies you may need.
You can choose between a Metered Data Plan or Unlimited Data Plan, which allows your organization to select the plan that’s right for your budget. With whatever you plan you choose, inbound data transfers are free of charge. Plus, with no upfront costs and no termination fees, you pay only for what you use.
Because ExpressRoute connections do not go over the public Internet and instead are the result of private connections, via a connectivity provider, that go from your organization’s IT infrastructure to your data centre, it offers a much higher level of control than a VPN connection.
